Weekly newsletter#3
If there is one thing we have got the hang of after 5 years of fishery management, it's renovating and installing new swims at the lake.
The concept is pretty simple...build a frame by driving posts into the margin and bolting scaffold boards in place, add shuttering all the way around, fill with hardcore/rubble etc, add a good foot or so of topsoil, peg down a weed membrane, and finish with an inch or so of woodchip.
As a club, we would depend on kind donations for the timber, rummage around in skips for the bricks/rubble, and ask our partners at the Park very nicely for the woodchip. As a business, we are in a better position to spend a bit of money on the materials, but free is still greatly received!
Visitors to the Lake will hopefully have noticed that Debbies & Jakes pegs have been given the royal treatment so far this year, and this weekend our attention turns to the Drain swim - by the time we've finished with it you should be able to get your rods and bivvy on it.
Piece by piece, peg by peg, we're building the future of Carp Fishing in Kettering...if you want to be a part of it, please get in touch.
Tight Lines!
